Sincerely, Tom Killion Kennett Square National Night OutThis week I had the opportunity to be a part of a great event in Kennett Square. At the 6th Annual National Night Out, members of the Kennett Square community as well as law enforcement members from Kennett Square, Kennett Township, and the State Police departments all came together on East Linden Street. They gathered to celebrate the alliance between law enforcement and community members. Through their efforts, Kennett Square has proven to be a model for community policing in this state, as well as across the country. Children from around the area were asked to submit essays about their day-to-day experience with law enforcement. They spoke of positive interactions, suggestions, and even gave their thanks to the officers that keep them safe. The bond between the families of Kennett Square and the local police departments is something that should be an example for all.
New Waterfront Development Tax CreditWhile in the House of Representatives, I was prime sponsor of House Bill 457, legislation that would establish a Waterfront Development Tax Credit. After being sworn-in as Senator, I became a co-sponsor of Senate Bill 282, a companion bill sponsored by Senator Vulakovich. I am happy to report that legislation has been signed into law and the administration has started work to develop the program. The overall benefits that this initiative will bring to the 9th Senatorial District and surrounding southeastern region in general are significant. This new program will generate economic activity related to construction, infrastructure improvements, and tourism to the areas of our region along the Delaware River.
